Michael’s paper on making hydrogenase air-tolreant is highlighted in Advances in Engineering. Check out the highlight here.

Moritz is appointed as an Honorary Associate Professor at Swansea University’s Faculty of Science and Engineering for three years. He will remain affiliated with Swansea in addition to his position at Hohenheim, meaning he can continue to contribute to shaping the chemistry department as part of the initial cohort of academics since the reopening in 2017.

Let’s get packing! The Kühnel Lab is moving to the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart (Germany). Moritz accepted a position as Acting Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry from 1st October 2023.

Our new domains kuehnel-lab.de and kuehnel-lab.com have been registered and connected. Migration to kuehnel-lab and German website are work in progess.

Congrats to Léonard for winning the Best Poster Prize at the 74th ISE meeting in Lyon at Symposium 2: Bioleectrochemistry for his poster entitled “Electroenzymatic CO2-to-CO conversion in Deep Eutectic Solvents by Carbon Monoxide Dehydrogenase”.

Read our paper together with Sudha Pitchaimuthu’s group at Heriot-Watt on simultaneous photoelectrochemical hydrogen production and wastewater treatment. We demonstrate degradation of surfactants – common pollutants in domestic and industrial wastewater – using a WO3/BiVO4 photoanode and couple it with hydrogen evolution (link to paper).

Congratulations to Léonard for passing his first year PhD progression examination (Comité de Suivi Individuel de première année) in Grenoble! Many thanks to the examiners Noémi Lalaoui, Laurent Dessemond and Bertand Reuillard and to Alan, Christine and Léonard for a very nice welcome to Grenoble.

Around the world, hydrogen test centres are being built. Read our review on what you need to consider when performing large-scale tests of hydrogen technologies such as electrolysis, photoelectrochemistry and photocatalysis (link to paper).
